Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - As the name implies, this particular mast consists of 3 sections. The external part mounts firmly to the lift truck. The next middle part telescopes in the outer part. The innermost part telescopes in the middle section. The inner part and the intermediate section both elevate when the lift cylinders extend. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides in the internal section. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas like doorways where overhead clearances are limited. This mast is normally equipped with a center cylinder to allow the fork carriage raise several distance before the mast parts begin lengthening.
The 2 Stage Mast includes two parts. The inner part telescopes inside of the outer and elevates while the lift cylinders lengthen. The external part of this mast model is attached to the lift truck. The fork carriage is actually situated inside the inner part. This mast type has a taller lowered height as opposed to an equivalent 3 stage mast or lift height quad mast.
